Fugro companies are world leaders in underwater positioning solutions. Using Long Base Line (LBL), Ultra Short Base Line (USBL) and combined techniques (LUSBL), Fugro provides the highest levels of accuracy for sub-sea navigation and positioning.

Through the application of innovative techniques, combining these specialised systems and advanced software solutions, Fugro Oceansismica has supplied a quality controlled and cost effective service to the offshore industries for over 30 years.

STARFIX DGPS SERVICES
Fugro's state-of-the-art STARFIX Differential GPS (DGPS) service has been developed specifically to meet the offshore and marine research community's demand for highly accurate positioning world-wide. Differential GPS algorithms, developed by Fugro, remove natural and man-made errors from the US Dept. Of Defense's orbiting satellite Global Positioning System. Fugro's STARFIX DGPS service has access to more than 80 land-based reference stations, with permanently manned control centres in Houston and Perth. Real-time data is delivered world-wide over a network of high and low power satellite links.
Fugro's STARFIX DGPS satellite-based services are used by the offshore oil industry to precisely position ships, rigs, platforms and other installations. Derivative solutions serve other marine activities, including marine geology studies , marine archeological research, telecommunications, dredging and other marine civil engineering projects, hydrographic and geophysical surveys.

STARFIX-Plus
As an augmentation to our standard STARFIX services, Fugro has developed an advanced dual-frequency DGPS solution STARFIX-Plus to combat the problems of increased ionospheric activity. The deployment of dual frequency GPS equipment at STARFIX reference sites allows an accurate model of ionospheric activity to be calculated and provides the user a stable and reliable positioning.

STARFIX-HP
To serve central offshore areas, the Company has developed the STARFIX High Precision Service (HPS). STARFIX HPS is based on dual frequency GPS instrumentation. By means of advanced computation algorithms, STARFIX HPS ensures a short initialisation time and robust performance with 10 to 20 centimetre accuracy.
